Well, everyone, welcome to Geek Fight! This is going to be a semi-regular thread around here, where we'll pit two characters, items, events or concepts from the different Final Fantasy games against each other. So, let's start out with our rules.
Rules of Geek Fight 1 - Each Geek Fight will take the time needed. No more, no less. You can change your vote, though. Votes get tallied when they do. Get over it. 2 - If you can't decide, there will be a third option. This option is always awesome. 3 - In your post, you must voice and defend your opinion. This may include nifty images. Or fan art. Or insults against the other sides progenitors. 4 - To defend your opinion, you must use Geek Logic. Geek Logic consists of any arbitrary opinion you like, as long as it backs up your preference.
So, since it's our first Geek Fight, let's get down to the basics, shall we?

Well, since nobody else steps up, I'll have a go.
First off, let me say this: I hate status effects, at least in the classic games, because they're nearly never work. Or at least, not when you need them to. So, that's one point down for Black Mage.
Here's how I boil it down: It's offense vrs. defense. On one hand, you can deal damage, on the other, heal it. Now, if we're talking about the massive grind-fest some FFs tend to be, I feel a white mage gives you more time down in the dungeons before having to go to an inn, but a black mage tends to do the real dammage in a boss fight. And just maybe, if you're good, you can replace a white mage for a bucket-load of potions.
So, begrudgingly 'cuz I'ld like to cosplay White Mage, I'm setting my vote for Black Mage. At least for now.
I went White Mage. WHile I do like both I have one thing to say in the white mage defense. I can run through the FF with four white mages using buff spells and whacking baddies with my hammers of doom. Not to mention healing abilities and the nasty spell Holy. I can make my run through the first game with four black mages, but it is quite a bit more of a pain.
Though I'm one who does like both, so I will give the black mage credit, I want that damn hat.
