Final Fantasy XIII
After Orphan's defeat, Cocoon's fal'Cie briefly failed before connecting to another, Gran Pulse's equivalent of Orphan, that gave them power again. Not all of them were able to survive long enough, however, and others remain in the shell of their world, performing useless tasks for a civilization that has moved outside.
Cocoon's people now live on the lowerworld, in rebuilt cities on a different landscape. Most of them have adjusted to the new life, however there are some few who retain their fear of Pulse, and even shun their now "tainted" fal'Cie providers.
Without Orphan, however, some of the remaining Cocoon fal'Cie are failing to adapt and, as a result, slowly dying.
