Troia, the delightful matriarchy known far and wide for its beauty and charming citizens, had been recuperating quite nicely after the merge. Hidden away deep, deep in the heart of a great forest Troia managed to avoid too much turmoil, though rumors of monsters re-appearing within the woods were troubling.
However there was also something else in the woods: Moogles! The beautiful and festive nature of Troia drew the attention of the fun-loving Moogles and a group of them took up residence in the woods near the castle. Unfortunately the people of Troia had never even heard of a Moogle before, and their appearance was said to be inauspicious. There were also strange rumors floating about that among the Moogles was a monster child who looked human except for a horn and wings.
Children were warned not to approach the forest, though it had been the home of the Troian people for ages past. 'If you go out into the woods,' the parents would caution 'The beast girl will play her flute and lead you away into the deepest, darkest part of the woods and her and her white monsters friends will gobble you up!'
... so you can only imagine the uproar when children really did begin to vanish into the deep woods.
After the children didn't return within a few days and search parties were unable to find them a proclamation was put out through Troia and a large sign was erected at the gate and at every corner:
'Wanted: Adventurers. Slay the monster girl and her minions and find our lost children. Large reward.'
Below each sign was placed a small poster depicting an artist's rendition of the monster girl. She seemed to have long, tangled dark hair and a huge horn almost like a lance-point sticking out of her forehead. On her back were strange, insect-like wings and she played on a flute carved from bleached bones with a terrible look in her demonic eyes. With her danced a plethora of small white monsters with giant, blood-stained fangs in their small mouths.
The hunt for the pied piper of Troia was on!
