Name: Ayda
Nicknames/Alias: Sin / Ohalland’s Final Aeon
FF: X
Age: 242 (appears early twenties)
Height/build: 5’9”, toned and muscular yet lithe.
DoB: unknown
Weapon: Spiked ball and chain, a weapon she uses with ease and frightening accuracy.
Level: 80 (I’m going High since she’s a Final Aeon and going to primarily be a villain.)
Strength : 290
Physical: 90
Magical: 70
Agility: 127
Special Skill(s): Transformation into final aeon:
Ayda becomes physically huge, towering over even the tallest Ronso. Her hair turns to a mane of feathers and angelically white feathered wings sprout from her shoulder blades whilst her clothing fades away to reveal glossy scales covering her whole body, which – on the whole – retains her womanly figure. That is with the exclusion of the muscular tail that grows out from her coccyx. It is incredibly long and strong supporting a spiked ball formation at its tip which she can wield as efficiently as her physical weapon.
As a Fayth Ayda can manipulate pyreflies to an extent, creating illusions or for disguising herself and with a particular effort of will cause them to react with people’s memories.
Ayda’s strongest attack is a barrage of holy element energy balls that pummel the target with great force resulting in a physical and magical assault. (Think FFX holy but bigger and better)
Magic: Shell, Wall, Holy, Reflect, Dispel and Cura.
Summon: n/a
Appearance:
Physically very well toned and lithe she was clearly an athlete when she became a fayth, her body sculpted by years of training and Blitzball. Her hair is bleached bone white and cascades over her shoulders and down her back as far as the bottom of her shoulder blades. Her complexion is slightly tanned, having been raised in the tropical setting of Kilika. Her clothing is the same as the day she became a Fayth and consists of a halter-neck top of pale purple fabric. Leather straps criss-cross over her front and support an elaborate holster for her ball and chain weapon. There is a metal plate on the part of the holster that touches her back to prevent the spikes on the ball from hurting her, the rest of the holster is just leather bindings that hold the ball securely .
On her lower half she wears tight, yet flexible shorts that come to just above her knee underneath a short skirt that covers the top of her thighs.
Personality:
One word truly describes Ayda. “Fragmented.” Her mind is in pieces and as such she is quite hard to gauge. One moment she is callous, calculated and merciless and another she is overcome with fury, lashing out in all directions for vengeance or simply to make others suffer. She is spontaneous, hard to predict and cruel.
But sometimes, very rarely, a sliver of the holy woman she once was creeps through, a part of her that is full of sorrow and regret and is still grieving the loss of her friend and all those she has brought to harm. In these moments she is often to overcome with guilt and disgust to do anything but when her resolve shines through she is capable of kindness and mercy.
History:
Ayda was born in a terrifying time, a time when Sin was running riot across Spira, destroying people’s lives. Like many other children, Ayda was an orphan to the great punishment, the monster that destroyed everything in its path. She was raised with other children in a similar situation by priests in Kilika temple. In such an environment faith naturally became a huge part of their lives and they were groomed to become temple workers and perhaps even summoners. Ayda in particular showed great potential to become a summoner and with this idea in mind she worked hard to hone her spirit and her body. She understood that a pilgrimage was a dangerous path to follow, hence the need for guardians, and so she was determined that she would one day make the journey and be able to defend herself.
Her favourite activity to stay fit and strong was the playing of Blitzball. Her devotion to attaining the peak physical condition she could, resulted in her being a particularly good player. Her pursuits in the temple and in the Blitz sphere led her to become acquainted with another aspiring summoner. Ohalland. He was older than she was and more experienced too but playing on the same team and even praying and meditating together soon resulted in a strong bond of friendship between the two. Ayda would find herself using Ohalland as marker against which to measure herself making their friendship quite a competitive one. No matter how hard she worked though, Ohalland was always a step ahead of her and so when he finally became a summoner Ayda was disappointed in herself for being unable to catch up to him. However, the strong bond they shared compelled her to accompany him on his pilgrimage as his guardian. He could not refuse her.
It was hard for the young woman to help her closest friend on a path that they both knew would lead to his death, but she had always shared his resolve to give her life for the sake of the people of Spira and so would never have even thought about trying to sway him from his chosen path. She served diligently by his side as they travelled from temple to temple and every time Ohalland disappeared into the chamber of the Fayth, Ayda waited just outside and spent the time in prayer. They stopped in Luca, meeting with the Kilika Beasts to play together as a team one last time and so that Ohalland could leave is famous World Champion Blitzball for a worthy heir before continuing on to Djose. There were times when Ohalland and Ayda were pushed to their limits, particularly when crossing Mt Gagazet but with a resolve as strong as theirs, there was nothing that could stop them making it to Zanarkand.
They faced the Cloister of Trials in the ruined city and descended to meet the unsent Lady Yunalesca. Until now they had both known that the Final Summoning would be the end of Ohalland but they had not been aware of the sacrifice needed for the final aeon, believing that Ohalland would call it forth from a fayth as he had when obtaining the other aeons. The revelation of the truth shocked them and indeed angered them but, not fully understanding that the final aeon would in turn become Sin, they went through with it. Ayda had trained to be a summoner once too and had been willing to make the sacrifice, this new truth about Yevon would simply allow her to be a bigger part in bring about the next calm.
She gave her life then and was transformed by Yunalesca into a Fayth. For the first time she shared in the dreams that all fayth shared and understood the workings of life in ways she could never have imagined. Finally, Ohalland travelled alone, back to the calm lands and summoned Ayda as a powerful Aeon. Ayda challenged the beast that was Sin and in their battle took Ohalland’s life. She knew it was coming but to be the one responsible hurt her deeply. His death could not be in vain and so Ayda fought hard to defeat Sin. It was then the true horror of Yevon was shown in all its twisted ugliness. Yu Yevon entered her and began to take control. She fought with all the force of spirit she had, with all the resolve she had in prayers on the pilgrimage. The calm lasted for four years before she lost control to Yu Yevon and began the sporadic and unmerciful attacks on the people of Spira. Losing the battle to Yu Yevon left her mind broken and fragmented but in her moments of clarity she was disgusted by her actions but was helpless to do anything about them. Perhaps it was Yu Yevon’s influence in her broken state, or perhaps it was simply a feeling brought on by the complete betrayal of Yevon on the people of Spira, but a sick little part of mind almost enjoyed the suffering she brought.
It was still a relief, however, when Lady Yucon at last attained her own Final Aeon and defeated Ayda. She felt sorrow knowing that the cycle was only going to repeat itself but to finally join the dreams of the Fayth once more was bliss in comparison. In that state the fragments of her mind didn’t matter though the cruel memories of betrayal stuck with her and festered, adding some dark and fiendish elements to the dreams of the Fayth. Her mind was one of many that brought Tidus into reality for her anger with Yevon would not ever fade until a way was found to break the spiral of death. All of the Fayth were in support of Yuna as she became the Summoner to bring about the Eternal calm so that at last they might be at rest. They life that animated the Fayth finally let them slip away into peace in the farplane.
A result of the merge brought Ayda back into the world though it was not the world she had known. She was left as twisted as she had been as Sin and deprived of her eternal rest she was angered. Part of her was still seething at how her whole life had been lived following a lie and she still grieved for the loss of Ohalland. She lashed out indiscriminately at the first few people she encountered, struggling to keep her mind focused. In doing so she discovered that she still had the power of a final aeon. As the fragments of her mind began to piece themselves back together she began to plan out her own self-destructive revenge. She had been at peace and then suddenly ripped from it, dropped back into the reality in that destroyed state and for that she was furious.
