Name: Ark
Nicknames/Alias: Lacil
FF: XIII
Age: Unknown; presumably quite old, though his human appearance is of a young man
Height/build: 6'4"/quite thin, contrary to his strength
DoB: N/A
Weapon: Ark doesn't use traditional weapons, preferring to fight with the abilities granted him as a fal'Cie.
Level (anywhere between 1-100): 81
Strength: 293
Special Skill(s): Being the fal'Cie that governs over death, Ark is able to use a range of abilities beyond human capability. The most powerful of these is to bring death to a resident of Cocoon, provided their body is in a weak enough state to allow it.
He is also able to turn humans into l'Cie, and while he does this on occasion to further his own goals, he is just as likely to brand someone as a source of his own cruel amusement.
Magic: Most of Ark's abilities as a fal'Cie are based in magic, from the taking of life to the branding of l'Cie. This also means that he is adept at the use of it in combat, preferring particularly destructive spells.
Summon: None
Appearance: While his true form is that of an immense, mechanical-looking creature - like most fal'Cie - Ark much prefers his human facade. He stands quite tall, with long, dark hair cascading to his waist, contrasting sharply with his fair skin. Violet eyes are set into a deceptively beautiful face; and he is beautiful, extremely so, despite being male. His build is deceptively slender, with little in the way of visible muscle.
Personality: Though he may enjoy masquerading as a human, Ark possesses a twisted sense of amusement and a cruelty only possible in one completely incapable of compassion. As a Cocoon fal'Cie, his duty is to bring death - or, more specifically, to ensure that Cocoon's population doesn't grow too large for it to support, a task that he enjoys as a game. And it is one he carries out with impeccable diligence, though privately he loathes this leash, seeking always for a way to live solely on his own whim.
History:
Being a fal'Cie, Ark was not "born". He did not grow or develop over the years the way humans do. He has simply existed, performing his designated task, for centuries upon centuries. But though he has always been diligent in his work, even taking pleasure in it, the idea of living restrained to such a task has never been one he has accepted. So he has fought it, toyed with it, ever looking for a way to change things, to find some other purpose to devote himself to.
It came, suddenly, with the Merge.
Cocoon and Pulse were united, and suddenly the expectations of fal'Cie changed. No longer was their work necessary, perhaps, but though they continued it, there were suddenly new paths available to them. Ark, in his human guise, took this chance immediately. By his nature he quickly became fascinated by the Lifestream and the Farplane, a dangerous interest: the abrupt growth of the world and its human population has ignited a desire in him to perform his fal'Cie mission and remove the "overflow" in Cocoon's cities, something which in turn allows him access to more and more souls connected to them to study, and at the same time it has allowed him access to a host of new potential l'Cie, be they as his servants or his toys.
