Appearance
Has tanned reddish skin, and shiny black hair. His eyes are a dulled brown, and usually half-closed and tired. He's somewhat rugged, with perpetual 5 O' Clock Shadow.
A Veteran, Lance's most notable feature is his prosthetic torso. His chest and arms are made of Adamantite Alloy, a nigh-unbreakable metal invented by The Al-Bhed. He has the Burmecian Coat of Arms engraved deep into his metal back, between his shoulder blades.
During his travels, he wears his red and gold armor in order to not stand out during his travels.
As for weapons, he has his trusty spear, The Bullhorn, which is a modified Partisan, imbued with the magic of an Oak Staff, giving him his Trance ability, Divebomb. His sword, The Gravity Sword, Is a longsword with a large piece of amethyst set in the hilt, which also adds the Gravity effect to his melee attacks.
In Trance, his appearance changes slightly, the armor gives off a red glow and Lance will appear to be wearing a full faced helm, with oxen horns on the sides.
Personality
He is distanced from strangers, but can gradually warm up to those he calls "Friend".
He is as Hardened as he is Hardworking -- A quick thinker who usually keeps to himself or Nura. Although these are only factors of his experiences that come off as uncaring and rude at times, he is a good man at heart. He has a handful of friends and acquaintances, but finds different things to keep him busy besides social frivolities. He takes his training very seriously, always trying to push himself more than he ever has. His life goal is to become the greatest warrior in all the lands, training himself and defeating any foe.
He love spicy foods and is often seen wandering around markets, often seen buying large amounts of various spices. He secretly enjoys cooking and baking, and the only person to know about this is Nura, as he prefers to have those distant from him more fearful of him than comfortable. Although he is the "Strong, Silent Type", he is somewhat showy, and enjoys public feats of strength to display his prosthetics.
Lance is a Dragon Knight who is loyal to his company and to his nation, and is willing to do anything to protect it and it's people. He visits Burmecia to check up on his fellow Dragon Knights, and is often considered a role model for the new recruits and a well respected knight among the people. He takes pride in his fighting and training to become a better warrior and is often reading spellbooks on days where the rain is coming down too far for him to do physical training outside. He enjoys sparring with Nura and his Fellow Dragon Knights in his spare time, training newer recruits.
Lance hates the ocean and often refuses to cross it even if on a boat. His Adamantite Chest & Arms are heavy enough to counterbalance his natural buoyancy, and he cannot swim well. Although he'll traverse through waist-high water, or pools, he completely detests any water that goes to his neck, or has even a slight current. His years with the practically Amphibious Nura have made him slightly more comfortable with very shallow water, but he is still nervous otherwise.
History
Lance was born in Lindblum in the spring, to Sophitia and Ocious Highwind. Living in the Industrial District, near the Air cab station. He attended Lindblum Learning Academy at age 9. A "Problem Child", Lance preffered to take off and play outside. Although he still learned his basic math, reading and writing skills, Lance was a D average student. If he was to continue his schooling, he would've found that he actually has an IQ that is nearly Genius-Level, and with a penchant for machina. After spending 6 years at school, he dropped out at 15 to train to become a warrior. After training with the knights of Lindblum and mastering the art of sword fighting and basic spear training, he traveled to Burmecia to see the captain of The Dragon Knights to learn their ways.
Throughout his next eight years of training he often went out with the company and protected villages and fought off angry mobs of monsters, often encountering more dangerous creatures inside The Mist. Eventually, after nearly a decade of intense training, Lance recieved his final Test. He was to kill and behead ten Mistodons, with only his spear and sword. It took him three days and two nights, but he completed the test nonetheless, delivering the heads to The Dragon Knights.
The exhausted and badly bruised Lance had completed his test.
He was finally a Dragon Knight.
Peace did not last long. Later that year, Burmecia was attacked by Brahne's army. They attacked with cannons and spells, which were powered by the manufactured Black Mages, Lance watched in horror as his home was destroyed. He helped fight an entire squadron, before being trapped. He tugged and tore at the steel trap with all of his might but was eventually incapacitated and was taken by the Alexandrian Army and sentenced to death.
Awaiting his execution date would remarkably be one of the most important events in his life, for this is where he would meet his lifelong partner, Nura. Nura was in jail for theft, but was awaiting the same fate. As he was not affiliated with the war, his punishment was not nearly as harsh as Lance's, who recieved inhumane torture. Lance, who was singled out by The Guards for his fiestiness, was used to make an example.
His arms were torn from his body, his ribcage shattered to splinters, and some of his organs removed. Unable to even roll to his side, Nura would bring him food in the middle of the night, and slowly heal him with magika learned from his fellow Guados. Nura, jailed for theft, began stealing stolen scrap in the middle of the night as well, dismantling boiler-room equipment, scrap metal, and parts of airships, slipping in and out of his cell with the parts unnoticed. Once he had a suitable collection stashed under his bed, the two of them fashioned Lance a makeshift pair of arms, and a shell for his injured torso.
That night, they would make their escape.
As Lance began hammering away at the walls, Nura distracted the guards. Once Lance tore through the wall, freeing them and hundreds of other prisoners, the ensuing riot was enough of a cover to make it across the city.
With the money they looted from The Prison, Lance was taken to a group of Al-Bhed who made him his arms and his torso, fixing him up not only as good as before, but better.
However, he needed to constantly fuel the mixture of Holy Magic and Machina in his body with sugar -- Which he then on had to drink constantly.
After he and Nura were brought back to health, they rested in Treno before heading to Lindblum territory.
After what was known as the Merge happened, he has been on quite the wild ride as he fought monsters and discovered new lands, leading the Dragon Knights to new heights. Nowadays, he resides in Burmecia in a small flat with Nura, awaiting orders, on which he is ready for on the tip of a hat.
