With the influx of activity that we've had recently, there's been a lot more for the staff to do, and as we've all been a little busy outside of handling things here, we've decided to open applications for one additional moderator position to help the moderating work move along more quickly.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW:
Applications are freeform, so if you're interested, just reply to this thread with the information requested above. Cloud, Kupo, and I will look over all applications and discuss who we think will be the best fit to join our staff team, and we'll bring someone on from there. I'm not going to put a deadline on applications, but make sure you get them in as soon as possible, or we may choose someone before you get yours posted!
Thanks in advance to everyone who has an interest in this, and thanks to all of you for getting us to this point!
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Previous moderator/admin experience is a definite plus.
- Willingness to read full character profiles, and approve or deny as necessary. All profiles are looked over by two staff members, and approval from any two allows the profile to be accepted. This also involves updating the character directory, summon directory as necessary, and character count in the sidebar. You must be willing to decline profiles on occasion, and explain why in a civil and clear manner, as well as to point out issues that prevent immediate approval when an outright decline isn't necessary.
- Willingness and ability to post our ad on other forums, following whatever rules are set in place there. This is very important to getting the word out about the site, but it can also be very time-consuming, so as it is, our current staff can't post as often as we'd like.
- An understanding of how to deal with problems between members and intervene when necessary. This is a very rare problem here, with the members we've got, but on occasion, certain problems do come up. Potential staff members must know how to deal with this without coming across as offensive, and must be willing to talk with members about what has caused a conflict and what is expected to resolve it. Calm, professional conduct is expected.
- Availability for discussion about various moderating concerns, as well as plot planning. Right now, all of our moderators use msn for this, primarily, so it is highly recommended to be available on there.
- All applicants should understand that the moderators are all treated equally, and none has a voice louder than any of the others. This position is about work and a desire to keep things running smoothly here, not power. If someone accepted onto the staff demonstrates any abuse of their power as a moderator, their privileges will immediately be revoked.
- You must be able and willing to work closely with the current staff members, and we will be looking very specifically for someone that we think we can get along with well and who we think will mesh well with our staffing style.
- Availability is crucial. We're looking for someone who is online every day, or close to it. You may not have something to do every day, but we want you to be there when we need you. This also means that you have to have a way for us to contact you when necessary - as stated above, we usually use msn, and it's highly preferred that you be available on there and signed in often.
WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW:
- Tell us about your previous staffing experience, if applicable. We'd like to know how you approach character profiles, problems between members, and any other moderating work you can think of that you've dealt with. If you have no experience, tell us how you would approach the position and the duties involved.
- Why do you want to join our staff? What do you expect to do as a moderator, and what do you expect from us?
- When are you available? How often, and at approximately what times? How can we contact you?
- Are you willing to advertise? How do you approach advertising?
- Tell us what games in the Final Fantasy series you've played, and which you're most familiar with. This is crucial to looking over character profiles. A good, clear understanding of the worlds and established canon of the games is very helpful to seeing how well a pending character fits in to our setting.
- If there's anything else you can think of that we might want or need to know, include it.
