I wouldn't mind offering up artwork :3 I can't promise anything too extreme as it'll depend on schoolwork, but I'll at least contribute a sketch of that person's character of choice. And~ If Zee ends up offering a chibi, I'll photoshop-color it for her IF she doesn't want to color it herself <3

Well-
I have to say. If Art is the prize...Ill do my absolute best to actually get into it. Im a horrible solo-writter.
But maybe an idea. What if you spice up this one. If you do make the prize artwork(I think real prizes are nice, but Im not sending out an adress-Not to mention, its really not "that" big of a contest).
What you could do is have partners. have a Sign-up Thread. Then when everone has signed up split them into 2-3 people per thread. In each pairing(hopefully) they can write a short story together.
THe easist way to split a story is one starts it, gets to the climax and the other finishes it.
When it comes down ot it-a quick sketch to each, or a chibi each really is an awsome prize(How many times do you get free art in the world).
There are kinks to work out with taht though-but tis an Idea no?
Otherwise, the other thing to remeber is we are in the "working" months. So many people won't be as active. So I would not expect a MOSNTER turn out. So real prize-I just don't think is right for it. I mena if we get 6 people-thats 6 to fight over a real prize. If it were like 10-16 people, now that would be more of a contest desrving your origins copy.
But Artwork intrest me greatly-its my favorite gift. And I pretty much die of joy each time I get it....
All in all-Dont expect a big turnout-and Art as a prize seems pretty nice. Espeicly with talented artist like yourself!

I'd rather not pair up for a short story, haha -- if I wanted to do something like that I'd do it in the backstory thread. Not only that, but if life makes me unable to complete my part in time for the contest, I'd be letting someone else down as well. I, personally, would be open to the idea of other people doing it that way, if they so wanted, but RPs get a little lengthy and don't usually read as well in a story format without some editing. Considering the turn outs of the previous contests, I don't think anyone was expecting a monster turn out anyway xD I agree, though, I think art and sigs/icons and such are great prizes. I forgot if I said this in my last past, but I'm perfectly comfortable giving out my address here :3 To the mods, at the very least, though if someone else is offering physical prizes it would depend on the person. I would be perfectly fine giving it to Hiko, for example, and I think...no one makes me nervous here, haha. If you REALLY wanna stalk me, bring it on

I don't make you nervous?
I love the idea of contests sticking around and art work seems to to be the best sort of prizes with maybe an award notice in the side bar or something too. I'm all for the physical prizes too and giving my address. Pretty much i agree with every one about everything...
yay contests... (can I enter)?

Frost - Honestly, I don't like trying to do RPs for contests. Then you've got multiple winners for every entry, rather than individuals, which means the burden of making more prizes - and you never know if one person's contribution was greater than another's, so someone could end up with the same prize for a fraction of the work. And, like Bha said, RPs just don't read well as stories, without quite a bit of editing. And since I forgot to mention this, yeah, it would be perfectly fine if you'd only be willing to give your address for physical prizes to certain people. I certainly wouldn't share it. Kupo - Yes, you can enter All of us can, with other people contributing prizes.

Your quite right.
Twas but a single idea. Nothing more. lol.
Well I am just trying to figure out how to make the contest itnresting. A writing contest is well and good-but there needs to be something that sets it out.
Somethign that says its "a writting" contest as compared to just another writting contest.
The Rp thing was not what I was getting at. But I am sure someone would venture into that territory.
I was thinking more or less that two people join up and write a story. Not actifucly control characters and roleplay them back and forth. But simply put, someone writes a plot-or some kind of beggining. Another person has to finish it.
You really don't conjoin together to roleplay what you want to do.
For example: Half the people who join get assigned to "Introductions".
They have to write a certain amount of words-lenght. Requirements as usual. Only thing is- They will not end it.
You would grade that Portion of the contest of thier own merit compared to the others on that portion.
Section A posters never actually have to pair up with another. THey write there own thing.
Section B posters then get assinged a Story-half at random.
They then finish the story as they see fit.
They would be graded on criteria fitting that half.
So really its more like 2 contest in 1.
Without any real planning between two people. No roleplaying involved. Nothing of the sort.
You write till you feel you've written enough(without finishing it). Then someone has to write till its done.
But I won't stress its a good idea, or anything of the like. If No one Like's the idea-then We should search for another alternative.

I like just the plain, simple writing contests myself :3 While I might be interested in trying your idea sometime, Frost, it gets a little messy because it means either giving someone else leeway over my characters, or taking control of someone else's characters, or both. And, to be honest, neither have ever sat well with me ^^
It's definitely something to take into consideration to shake things up in the future, though~

Seconding what Bharune said, myself. I like a nice, regular writing contest without unnecessary complications, and I think we have prompts broad enough to bring out a lot of creativity, so it's certainly not going to be boring.

Well, I just want more people to join up! That way we have a much more broad amount of stories to read-Sometimes you gotta do a bit of a Umph umph~
But I won't stress over the idea. It really is overly complicated~ I would try to participate in this writting contsest, but it all is a matter of how much work I have.
But who knows. I like regular cotestests sometimes. But I also have major flaws to my writting, so that sorta keeps me out of them. I hate getting back a paper with red everywhere. I feel sometimes people do not even read what I write, they just correct it. I particularly don't join for that reason.
I know it should make me a better writter, but I don't need to see a red paper that says "You suck at grammer did not even bother to read"...So Yea..lol

Um if anyone wants it (not sure if I'm good enough to offer it but - ) I don't mind doing some art stuff for prizes? I could maybe have a go at making anyone's photo into an FF character or something? :S Or do any kind of signatures for people's characters...?
And what about putting something in the winners' custom title on here? Like a little image saying "Word Master" or "Art Master" or whatever. Just a little showing off thing to say they've won a contest?
