Weapon:
Manadrive Blade
A weapon reserved only for high-ranking PSICOM officers, the Manadrive Blade uses AMP technology to mimic the magic normally only available to the fal'Cie and their l'Cie. This synthesized power enables it to send out charges in the form of spells, and to be empowered with the elemental affinity of the wielder's choosing. The blade itself is slender, mid-length, and well-suited to quick strikes.
Level: 57
Strength: 171
Physical: 74
Magical: 37
Agility: 60
Special Skill(s):
Lucain excels in high-speed combat, favoring a series of quick strikes to deal damage over drawn-out, more powerful blows. His real skill lies outside of battle, however; he can manipulate almost any situation into his favor, and can lie without detection by even the most skilled. He notices the subtle, and can read the flow of a conversation to figure out where to push for what he wants and where he's treading on dangerous ground, and his quick mind adjusts strategy accordingly.
Magic:
Note that all of Lucain's magic is dependent on his possession and use of his Manadrive Blade, and whatever manadrives he has with him.
Flamestrike, Froststrike, Sparkstrike, Aquastrike, Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, Aeroga, Curaga*, Haste*, Blind*

Summon: None
Appearance:
Tall and slender, Lucain has a lithe, graceful figure, with long limbs and toned muscle. His skin is fair, matched well by his pale blonde hair, which lands in layers to frame either side of his face. His features are well-proportioned and elegant: arched brows curve over bright blue eyes, and a smile of amusement - and perhaps a little mocking - plays often on his lips. Lucain always wears his uniform, the primarily black garb of his station, with his Manadrive Blade sheathed in its place at his left hip.
Personality:
Lucain is both well-liked and highly respected among those under his command. While his expectations are high, certainly, he is never one to reprimand without undue reason, and as a leader, he is both polite and fair. Highly diplomatic, he has taken great strides to assert PSICOM's position in the hierarchy of the Merged world, while remaining careful not to overstep any boundaries that would mark their force threatening. His overwhelming charisma draws people to him, and his carefully practiced social skill keeps them there.
What he keeps expertly hidden is the fact that, in truth, he is absolutely ruthless and devoid of any sense of morals.
When he desires something, Lucain has no qualms manipulating anyone around him to that end. Violence isn't beneath him, when necessary, and neither is an excess of force. Infallibly, he gets what he wants as quickly as possible, whatever that may be, in part due to his determination - he absolutely does not back down, once he sets himself to doing something - and in part because of his considerable resources.
There is very little that Lucain actually takes seriously, no matter how important it may be. A constant trademark of his attitude is his tendency toward indiscriminate flippancy, sometimes maddening to those around him. He laughs in the face of adversity, he laughs at anyone who steps up to challenge him; more than anything, he finds amusement in everything.
Conversely, he is extremely possessive once he's got a hold of something. If someone tries to take anything he deems his, he retaliates with extreme force, sometimes to the point of cruelty. No one is allowed, under any circumstances, to think they can get away with going against him to that degree - he ensures swiftly that they are taught the gravity of their mistake.
History:
Lucain is the second youngest of five children born to an upper-class Eden family. From his earliest childhood, he was never made to want for anything, allowed the full luxury of living in the highest privilege and comfort Cocoon life could offer. Even as a young boy, he displayed an outstanding skill for leadership, something his father pushed him toward honing through all of his life. The favoritism with which he was so quickly treated struck the sparks of resentment in his oldest brother, Dominic, something Lucain met right away with taunting and laughter, taking absolute pleasure in driving him as mad as possible.
Those rifts only deepened after the death of their mother, struck by a sudden illness when Lucain was ten. With her calming influence gone, he and Dominic were left to fight without moderation, despite the best efforts of their oldest sibling, their sister. Later, after their father died as well, Dominic broke away from the family, going into the Eden Guardian Corps, while Lucain, at seventeen, joined the elite ranks of PSICOM.
It was easy for him to adjust to the military lifestyle. He already possessed a natural leadership and decorum that had been instilled into him throughout his childhood in the hopes of his using it to gain further status, and he utilized them without reserve. Combat training was difficult at first - he was absolutely untrained in that area, going in - but he approached it with intense determination, and soon gained some regard as an accomplished fighter, as well.
Favor fell on him constantly from his superiors, and he was quick to ascend the ranks, passing even his older brother Adrien, who had joined some years before, before he was twenty. He finally saw his chance to prove himself in real combat when the news of l'Cie followed the Purge in Bodhum, an opportunity he was quick to act on - in Palumpolum, he aided in directing the PSICOM forces present, with a skill that brought considerable attention. Where others backed away in fear, terrified as anyone of the concept of a real Pulse threat, Lucain shined as a commander. As such, when Eden itself came under attack, Lucain found himself beneath only Yaag Rosch in command.
Rosch was killed in battle, and where many of the dispatched troops didn't know how to react to his final, ambiguous instruction, Lucain stepped neatly in to fill his place. Due in large part to his leadership, many of Eden's citizens were saved, even as their world fell from the sky. The promotion was made official shortly after the remains of the Sanctum collected itself. The Sanctum, however, was in shambles; the people were wary of their continued leadership after the horror they'd been through, and it wasn't long before the government fell apart completely. PSICOM fell to the same distrust; as the provisional government was formed to take the reins of society, the military force was disbanded.
But then the Merge happened. The people were caught in fear and unrest, and seizing his opportunity, Lucain reformed PSICOM under him, drawing the displaced soldiers back into its ranks. While the provisional government initially reacted with distrust, he was quick to reassure them that his intentions were only to help the people, to offer what stability and protection he could in the face of uncertainty. He deferred to them completely, promising that he would do whatever they asked, offering a few suggestions here and there - all for the benefit of Cocoon's people.
Though his own position had grown into something far surpassing what he had possessed before the fall of Cocoon, however, Lucain is never one to be satisfied with half-measures, and contentment without looking for more was absolutely out of the question. Though he makes some superficial effort at sending the lower branches out to keep the peace, PSICOM has largely become his own private army, utilized however he sees fit. Since the Merge, he has worked actively to learn of the governing systems of the new lands, determine where the greatest power is, and carefully assert his position without overstepping tentative boundaries, all the while looking for a way to reach farther.
