Name: Akira Danier
Nicknames/Alias: Akira
FF):FFXII
Age: Seemingly in her early to mid twenties, though her real age is unknown.
Height/build: Without the aid of her near necessary stilettos, Akira stands at 5’8”, and with stands at an impressive 6’0”.
DoB: Unknown
Race: Rava Viera
Weapon: Though Akira is comfortable using nearly any weapon, her weapon of choice is a halberd she fondly named Kaleo. It is nearly as tall as she, with a jagged edge to the blade that could potentially do more damage than a clean stab. A red sash is tied around the bit just beneath the blade; it once belonged to a hume she traveled with.
Level (anywhere between 1-100): 45
Strength: 127
Physical: 47
Magical: 30
Agility: 50
Special Skill(s): As with most Viera, Akira has outstanding hearing, smell, and general awareness of her surroundings. Though her senses have dulled considerably after leaving the Wood, she still proves time and time again that she would quickly be the hunter rather than the hunted. Other than her natural ability, Akira has no special battle skills to speak of. Out of battle, she is a wonderful story teller, and cooks a mean meal.
Magic: Fire, Fira, Cure, Curaga.
Summon: None.
Appearance: Akira, like her Rava Viera sisters, is tall and tanned, equipped with a bit more cure than some of her race. Her hair is light, almost silver in color, and reaches the backs of her thighs in gentle waves when pulled into a high tail. Her tall, rabbit like ears are of the same color, though the very tips are dotted with black. From beneath the splay of light bangs that frame her face, a pair of mismatched eyes peer out; one green and one amber.
Personality: Whereas most Viera are calm and collected, Akira is quick to change moods, often from one extreme to the other. There are days when she could be the happiest Viera on Ivalice, and then it suddenly comes crashing down in a maelstrom of anger and bitterness. More often than not though, she is easy enough to soothe with a joking remark or a squeeze of the hand. The one sure-fire way to bring her back into a good mood is to offer her a bit of candy, and like a child she will be your best friend. At least, for the rest of the day. Akira enjoys the company of others, but if she finds them to be arrogant or suspicious she can be a bit standoffish, even to the point of using a threat.
History: When she was young, Akira aspired to be a Wood-Warder, and worked viciously to achieve that goal. She trained alongside the other Viera seeking to protect Eruyt Village for years, and when she finally reached her dream it seemed to shatter around her.
It happened that first day, on her first solitary trek though the Golmore Jungle. It started out easy enough—the only real issue being her acute sense of smell and the Malboro that inhabited there. But something felt odd about the Wood that day, something not quite wrong, but not quite right, either. She could feel eyes on her, and at first she had been uneasy, but soon chalked it up only to one of her Sisters watching her.
Though, after a few hours, she didn’t think that could be it.
After a while longer, Akira finally heard a loud crashing noise from above, and was able to jump out of the way just in time to avoid a hume falling from the branches. She turned her bow upon him viciously, demanding answers as to why he was here. He lifted his hands in terrified defense, looking very much like a small animal about to die. Upon this realization, Akira lowered her bow and allowed the man to explain himself with no threat.
He introduced himself as Kaleo Danier. It seemed he was a young merchant, travelling from Rabanastre to meet a fellow merchant to sample his wares. He had gotten lost along the way, and then came across Akira, though he had been too scared to ask directions, and for good reason too. Akira pitied Kaleo, and thinking nothing of it took him back to Eruyt Village for food and rest.
The Viera were outraged with her bringing an outsider into the sacred confines of their village, so much so that they even threatened to banish her. Akira fought her point, but as the village stood against her, she escorted Kaleo back into the Wood. However, she promised to meet him the next day with food and supplies for his journey.
Indeed, she returned to their designated meeting place, but all she found was a spray of blood and its lingering metallic stench. Her first thought was that the Viera did this, and, enraged, followed the scent of blood. However, she did find Kaleo a little ways off, having been attacked by a pack of Coeurl. He managed to fight them off, but was hurt badly, and so dragged himself to a spot where he would be a little safer. Akira healed him and, afraid that Kaleo would not be able to survive the Wood alone, offered to escort him to the other side. Seeing the ugly side of her Sisters and the Wood had put her in foul spirits—she didn’t understand why the Wood would not allow visitors, and it made her question the Green Word, and even more so herself.
Akira found that in a very short time, travelling with Kaleo was something that she enjoyed very much, and without a word of farewell to her Sisters of the Wood, she left and became an outcast.
Years went by, and Akira travelled with Kaleo around Ivalice, eager to learn and see something new. He bought her a halberd, as her bow wasn’t quite cutting it anymore, and she used it every opportunity she got. Eventually she took on his last name, as she felt so far removed from her Viera sisters that she felt she was Kaleo’s sister instead.
On one particular journey, Kaleo had caught wind of a rare material found near the remains of Nabudis. Insisting that they search for it, he enthusiastically lead Akira through the swampy waters. The Viera, already feeling dizzy and irritable from the levels of Mist, was hardly paying attention to her surroundings, and before she could even sense it a Darkmare struck, lashing out with one of many snakes at Kaleo. He fell into the water, blood and venom spilling from the wounds, as the Darkmare turned on Akira.
For a moment she stood, terrified, but before the beast struck again she attacked furiously. It was much stronger than other Darkmares she had encountered, and the battle was long and arduous. She herself suffered many wounds, but thankfully no snake bites like Kaleo. Eventually the creature fell, and she dropped to the ground to heal her old friend.
He was already dead and cold.
She stayed there in that swamp for many hours, despairing over Kaleo’s corpse, until she finally pulled his silk sash from his waist and tied it to her halberd, by way of memory, as she was unable to give him a proper burial. For a long while she was bitter and cold, even to the friends she had made along her travels. But, as years passed, she accepted Kaleo’s death, and thought that maybe if he was with her in spirit he would like to see the rest of Ivalice.
