Name: Cael
Nicknames/Alias: n/a
FF: VII
Age: Really old...
Height/build: 5'8"/ lithe, flexible, small of stature.
DoB: --
Race: Cetra
Weapon:
Cael tends to avoid combat and when he's pushed into it he's more likey to form a weapon with his shadows that actaully use a physical object.
Level: 93
Strength: --
Special Skills:
Cael is able to communicate with the other Cetra both at close- and long-range via telepathy. As an extension, unless they deliberately shut him out, he can find them wherever they are. This only works between himself and the others of his kind.
[/li][li]Transportation:
In its simplest form, this allows Cael to move from one place to another in an instant. However, it is much less strenuous to move only his image - an incorporeal form that he may send out to observe and communicate on the most basic level, but not directly interact. On a much larger scale, this ability to transport himself could be used to pass through the barriers between worlds, though to do so physically takes considerable effort. As a result, he would more often send his image than move his entire being.
[/li][li] Planet Communing:
All Cetra are born with the ability to communicate with the Planet, though the meaning of it is much greater in the true Cetra than what lingers for their descendants.
[/li][li] Lifestream Manipulation:
Cael may pull lifestream up through the earth and use it as he wishes. This is what allowed the ancient Cetra to cultivate land, though there are other uses for it.
[/li][li] Soul Capturing:
Most effective when used on those from his world, Cael draws on the current of lifestream running within a living being. From there, he may manipulate its flow or outright remove it. This usually can't kill, as it leaves just enough to keep the target alive, but can temporarily cripple until the body has a chance to restore it, leaving them in a near-comatose state. It is highly dependent on the target's resistance (or compliance, as the case may be) as they can fight its pull with willpower.
[/li][li] Unique - Shadow Manipulation
Shadow Manipulation is an ability that comes inherently to Cael. He can make shadows grow, change in shape and even become solid. With such an ability he can do a multitude of different things; for example creating physical tendrils of shadow to strike at foes or extending an area of shadow, making it darker to conceal himself in them. Bright lights weaken his shadow creations but do not out right destroy them. He is never without a means to make shadows, even when there are none around, as he can simply use the shadows under his clothes or in his mouth instead. Cupping his hands is also effective in creating a source of darkness to manipulate.

Magic:
Whereas materia acts as a channel to produce magic by drawing power through it from the lifestream, as a Cetra, Cael can draw from the lifestream itself, effectively producing any spell that a regular materia could replicate, but at a higher level than what the stones can offer.
[/li][li]Holy:[/u]
Drawing its name and concept from the White Materia, Holy calls forth the energy of the Planet itself. However when used by the Cetra on a individual level it is nowhere near as powerful as the Holy that stopped Meteor from destroying the planet. However the strength of their Holy can be enhanced when the Cetra combine their efforts and use it together.

Appearance:
Cael is not a particularly tall man, standing at around 5'8". He has a slight, lithe frame that mismatches his physical capabilities. He's more wirey and willowy than muscular.
His messy jet black hair is overgrown and poorly kept, falling to the back of his neck at the rear and around his eyes at the front. His silvery orbs gleam out from between the strands of his raven locks. When he is being particularly serious he tends to spend a lot of time pushing his hair out of his face.
His skin is very pale. He simply doesn't catch a tan easily and is the kind of person that is meant to live where it's cold. With that in mind he has adopted a long white scarf that he often has wrapped around his neck - except in unbearbly warm climates.
He's fond of his plain woolen black top with sleeves that are too long, coming down well over his hands and a warm fur lined hood. His leg wear is as baggy as his top though more appropriate in length and grey in colour.
Personality:
Cael is the kind of person who outwardly seems very complex but in reality is a very simple personality. He seems a little apathetic, not often showing any concern for important matters. This is not really the case he just prefers not to give away his thoughts. This apparent apathy appears to extend to care for his fellow Cetra’s well being – he tends to make a show of not caring what happens to them but in reality he is quite deeply concerned. He is convinced that it is their companionship that has kept him sane over the years. When it comes to helping out Cineris and Creon, he will do so but he will do his best to act like it’s below him.
He’s a sarcastic individual too and only when serious situations arise does he tone it down. The combination of sarcasm and apathy give this mean facade of someone a lot like a bully. Yet he doesn’t go out of his way to cause problems for people although other than his friends he really won’t go out of his way to help them either. Not because he’s a horrible person, but because he doesn’t want any kindness he’s harbouring to be perceived as weakness.
He views positive emotions as just that: weakness. But he is kind, loyal and caring he simply buries it all deep inside himself. Once he travelled all over, seeking out new places for the cetra to settle and back then it was okay to show that he enjoyed looking out for the rest of his race. Now that they were alone he felt that he could not let it show, that if he did someone out there would take advantage of him.
This makes him a little cynical and bitter; things he wears as armour. When separated from Creon and Cineris he starts to feel quite shy and withdrawn. It seems that when they aren’t there he is over come with regret for the mistakes he (and all three of them as a collective) have made. He hides in his shadows to avoid looking on faces he could have helped. Honestly, he still hasn’t come to terms with the destruction of his race at the hands of Jenova. Cael is really just troubled by the loss and the effort to prevent from appearing weak – something he has convinced himself is a necessity.
History:
Cael is an Ancient, a Cetra; A race from long ago who settled on planets and used their powers over the lifestream to make them fertile and cultivatable. Among the Cetra there were the pioneers, those who went ahead to seek out new lands to bring the rest of their people to. Cael was one of these pioneers, along with Cineris and Creon. Their duties to their race had them far away and isolated for large portions of time but in return they were highly respected among the Cetra and were gifted with much greater power over the lifestream than others as well as great longevity.
They were not around when Jenova crashed into the planet and slipped her way among the Cetra, slowly infecting them with her own genetic material and causing them to go mad. When the pioneers returned to find their people the saw that Jenova, all though now sealed away in the wound on the planet, had decimated the Cetra. So few remained of what had once been a thriving population. Cael was heartbroken by the loss. His every action was motivated by doing it for the good of his fellow Cetra. He watched as the small number of Cetra that were left dwindled further, knowing there was no way to save his race – that eventually they would all join with the lifestream, leaving he, and his fellow pioneers – the ascended Cetra - to wander the worlds without aim.
That was a prospect that almost destroyed Cael; it was tearing his mind apart, the thought of having no purpose - the eternal loneliness. He was saved from a total shut down by the companionship of Cineris and Creon. They were his rocks, a barrier that stood between him and total solitude. Collectively they spent several years looking for a purpose – at least that’s how Cael saw what they were doing. Eventually the plotted together, plotted a way to enhance the lifestream – to complete it by merging all the worlds in existence together. His aim in that cause was to make the lifestream greater, for it was the promised land of the Cetra and that’s where the people he had cared for were now. He would make their promised land a paradise beyond anything it could be from their world alone.
It took years of wandering the planet, watching the fall of the Cetra and the rise of the humans and their lazy, destructive ways and searching to find a way to remove the barriers that kept all of the worlds isolated from each other. The humans who seemed to forsake the gifts of life were growing stronger with their advancing technology and soon they were even exploiting the lifestream. That rubbed him up the wrong way. The lifestream was sacred and the Mako energy revolution went against all of his beliefs. He grew to resent humans for that. Cael, Cineris and Creon were slowly gaining power and wisdom, gathering the knowledge that they would need to achieve their goal.
A couple of millennia later and they were finally ready to remove the barriers, to merge the world. Together the trio set about this colossal task, using everything they had learned over thousands of years to pull down the barriers, for Cael that meant using every bit of his strength. It was a struggle, but together they managed to succeed, though the strain of the effort left Cael drained and unconscious for a couple of days. His subconscious was filled with the planet’s screams and was wrought with nightmares. When at last he came round he found that his dreams were not simply dreams – the ability to commune with the planet let him feel the pain he had helped inflict. He could feel the conflict with the lifestream and the cycle in other worlds.
It took what little strength he had to keep his despair from showing, to keep his panic ridden thoughts buried in the depth of his mind – out of reach of Cineris and Creon. He had changed over the years, hiding his thoughts behind a mask of bitterness and now would be no different. He would not allow his weakness to be shown and instead he lashed out with words, blaming Cineris and Creon for the error in a mocking fashion.
In the years that followed they have been searching for a way to restore the lifestream, to make it blend again, to return to it the souls that had accidently been removed it. His cynicism, his sarcasm and his bully like nature is twice as thick now because he has never been closer to total despair. He’s barely holding himself together and although he’s doing his best not to show it, he’s never needed his friends so much.
Now, as they look for a way to fix their mistake and once more complete the lifestream, he looks the other way from the morally questionable things they have had to do and let happen. He pretends that it doesn’t make him feel anything and uses his faux apathy as an excuse to be directly involved as little as possible.
