Appearance:
Tidus has neck length sunny blonde hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion. He has a muscular and athletic build from years of Blitzball. On his upper body he wears a cropped, yellow hooded jacket with short sleeves. On one shoulder he has a blue spauldron which is connected by red mesh to a metal bracer.
Two straps come over his shoulders to support the waist cover that sits above his shorts. A belt is fastened around and from it a thin chain hangs. His black shorts have zips around the knee so they can be alternated between knee length and calf length. Tidus wears them with one leg knee length and the other at calf length. The longer one is adorned with the jecht symbol. That symbol also hangs as a pendant around his neck. On his feet he wears yellow and black boots.
Personality:
Tidus has a generally sunny disposition, and is outwardly confidant and cheerful though he sometimes seems a little arrogant and cocky. He is quite a sensitive person and still tears up and gets very passionate about things easily. He also tends to be quite loud and excitable. That’s not to say he can’t be serious and despite a little naivety he can be very mature and produce sensible suggestions. He tends to pass off his upbeat attitude on others and easily motivates others in the same way he does himself.
When he’s upset he can get a little sulky and he still has a few daddy issues but since his time travelling with Yuna he has adopted a “smile when your sad” approach and resolved most of his anger towards Jecht.
History:
Tidus is a dream of the fayth. He existed within the consciousness of the fayth but to him he lived his life in Zanarkand, a huge city of glittering lights famed for its Blitzball stadium. He was the star player of the Zanarkand Abes like his father before him.
Tidus was always picked on by his father who often made fun of the boy’s sensitive nature, calling him a cry baby. Jecht’s drinking, his attitude and the way that Tidus’s mother seemed to ignore him when his father was around led to a resentful relationship. Tidus blamed Jecht for his mother’s death and so his hatred grew. To prove himself better than Jecht he worked hard to become an Ace Blitzball player.
Ten years after his father disappeared at sea, Tidus was playing in the Jecht memorial cup game when Zanarkand came under attack from Sin. His childhood mentor and an old friend of his dad’s, Auron appeared and helped him through the monster plagued city, giving Tidus his first sword. They fought together until Sin transported them away.
Tidus awoke in Baaj temple, floating alone in the sea. It wasn’t long before he was discovered by some Al Bhed girl salvagers. He was taken on board their ship where he helped them work and in return was fed. He talked with Rikku and told her about where he was from. It was from her he learned that his world was 1000 years in the past and that he ought to be careful who he told about it since Zanarkand was a holy place and he might offend someone. The ship was attacked by Sin and Tidus was lost to the sea once more.
The next place he found himself was Besaid, this time though he wasn’t alone. Roused by a Blitzball he gave a display of his skill and kicked the ball back to the watching Besaid Aurochs before swimming ashore to join them. His skill impressed them though his tale of Zanarkand disturbed them and he passed it off as being under the influence of Sin’s toxin. The Aurochs decided that he would make a good addition to their team and somehow he ended up agreeing to go with them. In the village, he heard about a summoner who hadn’t emerged from the cloister within the temple and concerned, he rushed in to try and help. It was there that he first met Yuna.
He travelled with Yuna and her guardians as she set out on her pilgrimage since the Aurochs were heading to Luca anyway for the Blitzball tournament. Tidus learned that his father had been a guardian for Lord Braska, Yuna’s father which confused him and Yuna’s positive feelings towards the man he hated annoyed him. After fending of Sin with them and watching the sending in Kilika, Yuna announced that she wanted Tidus to join the group as her guardian. Nothing was decided until later after Yuna was rescued from Al Bhed captors in Luca and after the monster attack on the Blitzball stadium. Auron re-appeared and told Tidus Sin’s identity was Jecht. For a while he refused to believe it.
He became Yuna’s guardian officially but he never fully grasped what would happen at the end of the pilgrimage and no-one could quite bring themselves to tell him. They travelled together towards Djose, doing their bit in operation Mi’hen before going on to Djose Temple. From there they set out to the Moonflow where he learned that Jecht had an incident with a shoopuf and finally kicked the booze. During the crossing Yuna was kidnapped by the Al Bhed again and after rescuing her they found out it was Rikku, who joined their party as a guardians soon after.
In Guadosalam Tidus decided that he really didn’t like Seymour and was surprised when he proposed to Yuna. They moved on through the Thunder plains, Macalania woods until at last they came to the Icy temple. The truth about Seymour was revealed and the Summoner and her entourage fought him and his mighty aeon Anima. They fell through the ice after defeating the Maetser of Yevon and were transported to Bikanel by Sin. Tidus woke alone again in a sea of sand but slowly rediscovered his companions slowly. All except Yuna. They went to Home where she had been but found it under attack from the guado. They fought their way through and Tidus learnt the truth behind Yuna’s pilgrimage before escaping with Cid on the Fahrenheit.
They travelled to Bevelle to rescue Yuna before she was wed to the unsent Seymour. They escaped to the cloister of trials but they were eventually caught and cast into the Via Purifico to die. They struggled free though and faced Seymour once again before fleeing Bevelle to Macalania woods. Tidus and Yuna realised their feelings for each other there and before they moved on he plotted with Rikku to try and find a way to save her from the fate she had accepted for herself.
The traversed the Calm Lands and began the climb of Mount Gagazet where they were initially met with hostility from the Ronso. They were able to convince them to allow the journey to continue, though, and soon after Seymour attacked again. Many Ronso were killed and a desperate battle with the Maester ensued. The survived and travelled on. Coming at last to what they had assumed would be the end of the pilgrimage, they entered the ruins of Zanarkand, and went on to meet Lady Yunalesca who revealed the true nature of the Spiral of Despair and Sin’s death and rebirth cycle. They refused to accept that and attacked her.
Upon defeating her they vowed to find a way to defeat Sin once and for all. They formed a plan and the people of Spira helped by singing the hymn of the fayth to draw Sin out. They attacked him from the airship and travelled inside where they met Seymour for a final battle. Further within Sin Tidus finally confronted his father and fought with Yuna to defeat Braska’s final aeon and Yu Yevon. He knew about himself by that final fight, that he was a dream of the fayth and that in releasing them through defeating Yu Yevon he himself would fade away. He fought on anyway and did disappear.
For a while there was nothing but then the Fayth revived him. He woke up in the sea near Besaid yet again but this time when he surface Yuna was waiting for him and she had changed. Two years had passed, it seemed. He stayed with her there on the Island but with the merge he felt a need to wander. To find a cause for the paranoid knot in his stomach.
